Lincoln and Mustang introduced with new backing
Published: 20 April 2023
- Lincoln (top image) is a 2-colour grass with a pile height of 36mm and a density of 31,500 stitches/sqm and 30 stitches/10cm.
- Mustang (lower image) is 3-colour, 38mm pile height, 26,500 stitches/sqm and 25 stitches/10cm.
The soft texture, density and rich colour of these grasses makes them perfect for customers looking for a luxurious finish.
A Different Backing
All synthetic turf installations require rolls to be trimmed for joins and to fit the grass around the edges of the area. Generally, fitters will use a Delphin or Stanley knife, changing the blade every few metres to ensure the trimming is neat and clean. Lincoln and Mustang benefit from a new backing, consisting of a double polypropylene (pp) mesh cloth coated with a fine layer of latex; a product detail which has been designed to make cutting easier and also to make the backing lighter and more flexible. When trimming or cutting these grasses some fitters may see this backing react slightly different to other latex backings, as some of the double pp mesh strips may be exposed. However, these can be easily trimmed off. As usual take care when cutting artificial grass backing, replace the blade regularly and avoid cutting into the stitch lines as far as you possible can.
Trade Comments
Steve, owner of Always Green, recently installed Mustang and said 'we found it a lot easier to cut and also the joins came out as good as Senna grass'. We've been supplying Senna for over 2 years now and it's one of our most popular, so it's great to hear that Mustang is being likened to it!
Strong and Resilient
Both Lincoln and Mustang have passed rigorous tests as follows:
- Pull test on the straight and curly fibres
- Strength test on the backing
The backing on the left is Lincoln. The pattern of the double mesh backing can be seen through the layer of latex.
